Maintenance Technician

About the role

This position is responsible for performing daily preventive maintenance tasks on various pieces of production equipment. In addition to maintenance tasks, this role will also perform repair tasks needed to keep the equipment operational. The maintenance technician will work closely with operational and management personnel to ensure all production equipment is kept in good condition and able to meet the company's production needs. This position is required to be on-call at times for various service needs.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe and secure work environment
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair tasks on production equipment as required
• Work with management to minimize unnecessary downtime
• Analyze machine downtime to identify and correct mechanical problems
• Maintain maintenance-related records
• Perform facilities maintenance
• Achieve goals and objectives set out each year by plant management
• Contribute to ongoing improvements to throughput, inventory, and operational expense
• Abide by all company policies including health and safety, quality and environmental systems, human resources policies, and the company employee handbook
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and legislation including environmental legislation

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of maintenance functions
• Detailed knowledge of electrical, controls, PLCs, and/or HVAC troubleshooting is a plus
• Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems as they arise
• Familiar with state and federal OSHA regulations
• High level of time management and organizational skills
• Strong technical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary courses in related disciplines preferred
• 1-3 years of experience in a maintenance position desirable but not required

Physical Demands

These physical demands are representative of the requirements necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of the job:

• Frequently required to lift up to 75 pounds (mechanical lifts available to assist with heavy lifts)
• Often required to stand, use hands and fingers, walk, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
• Vision abilities required include close vision

Work Environment

• Often exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
• Temperature on the production floor can range from mid-50s in winter to over 100 degrees in summer

Pay

$20.00 - $30.00 per hour
