About the role
The Engineer II ensures the overall success of the hotel by maintaining mechanical systems to meet or exceed guest expectations. This role maintains a safe, attractive, and well-kept property while performing general and preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of preventative maintenance and repairs.
- Perform general maintenance, preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs as assigned.
- Adhere to safety, security, and emergency procedures; react appropriately during emergencies and correct hazards promptly.
- Follow security procedures for handling guest room and master keys, securing boiler and electrical rooms, and proper storage of chemicals.
- Listen to and promptly resolve guest problems and complaints.
- Protect company assets, associates, and guests by following established guidelines.
- Kneel, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and work in varying indoor/outdoor weather conditions.
- Perform basic painting, caulking, building repair, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
- Troubleshoot equipment, identify needs and parts, and perform repairs on hotel equipment.
- Apply and store chemicals according to OSHA standards.
- Operate hand and power tools (e.g., drills, hoisting equipment, reciprocating saws, pressure washers).
- Read manufacturer instructions and discern electrical wiring colors.
- Make effective judgments on repairs and maintenance to solve guest and operational problems.
- Keep the Chief Engineer informed of all significant issues for prompt corrective action.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic understanding of building maintenance, HVAC, and refrigeration.
- Maintenance experience preferred.
