Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent.
New York State Driver's License required.
2-5 years' experience in facility maintenance and mechanical roles.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Repair structural damages such as repairing sheetrock/drywall, carpentry, painting etc.
- Perform plumbing related duties as needed such as fixing leaking faucets, toilet sinks etc.
- Perform basic electrical repairs including replacing bulbs, ballast and fixtures as needed.
- Complete painting assignments.
- Monitor and replace emergency lighting, exit signs, and door entry battery units.
- Recognize potential safety issues in and around the building and grounds and act to correct.
- Build, repair and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, and trim; use carpenter’s hand tools and power tools.
- Be able to assemble, move, and (re)arrange furniture.
- Mount objects to and repair walls.
- Be able to Change locks, outlets, lightbulbs, ballast, switches, thermostats, filters, flushometers, toilet seats and covers.
- Ensure that the work site and conditions are safe.
- Make independent assessments for repair and maintenance needs while assisting and following directives of the Facility Director.
Skills and Traits
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical and general construction/carpentry.
- Ability to use a computer and to learn new programs.
- Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Benefits
Initial salary offers for this position range from $28 - $31 per hour. Salaries are determined using an equitable compensation scale that accounts for years of experience and levels of attained education.
