Maintenance Technician

About the role

APEL Extrusions, Inc. is an independent extruder, finisher, and fabricator of aluminum extrusions, with six extrusion presses and a full array of finishing capabilities across over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space. With facilities in Calgary, Canada; Coburg, Oregon; and Phoenix, Arizona, APEL serves the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States.

The Maintenance Technician troubleshoots and repairs machinery quickly and effectively to maximize production time.

Responsibilities

• Work on various projects involving fabrication, rebuilding parts, and inspecting machinery.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Help other maintenance and operational personnel as needed.
• Operate a forklift and man lift.
• Plumb air, oil, grease, and water lines.
• Troubleshoot hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Work independently and as a team.
• Strictly follow all safety rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Fabrication experience.
• Ability to safely work in confined spaces, at elevated heights, and around chemicals.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic/pneumatic valves, pumps, cylinders, and schematics.
• Knowledge of general industrial equipment such as chains, bushings, bearings, gearboxes, and drive belts.
• Experience with fabrication and reading blueprints.
• Ability to work safely at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
• Familiarity with CMMS.
• Fabrication and welding.
• Commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• Millwright Certification.
• Electrical experience.
• CMMS familiarity.
