Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Maintenance Technician performs tasks involved in the upkeep of the building and grounds, installation, maintenance, and repair of hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines, equipment, and building. This role may include inventory of maintenance parts and supplies, interaction with suppliers, and collaboration with internal department personnel. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, manage time effectively, work independently, and adhere to Altor Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance duties on building and machines, including troubleshooting to determine root cause of issues and executing repairs.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on plant machines and fork trucks.
• Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and/or oiling to ensure optimum working order.
• Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
• Perform minor electrical work (e.g., replacing light bulbs and fuses) and assist in minor carpentry and repair work.
• If licensed, maintain and repair electrically powered equipment and appliances according to instructions from senior technicians, supervisors, or equipment service manuals.
• Assist with servicing and replacing minor plumbing fixtures.
• Apply paint, varnish, and stain to protect and beautify surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Set up, remove, and store production molds in accordance with documented procedures.
• Maintain usable fill guns and ejectors through bench testing, cleaning, rebuilding, and inspecting.
• Collect, test, and report water samples for hardness, pH, and other parameters at various stages of the process.
• Follow plant-specified job specifications, task lists, and complete all required paperwork.
• Maintain equipment reliability through implementation and execution of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout, and wear PPE properly.
• Keep workstations clean and free from dirt and debris; may include cleaning assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED; two-year degree or technical certificate preferred.
• Three years of related experience; manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with MRP/ERP work order processes.
• Experience monitoring and maintaining low-pressure boilers, air compressors, air dryers, and vacuum pumps.
• Experience maintaining forklifts.
• Proficient in reading schematics to troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime and after-hour meetings as needed.

Position Level Guidelines

Placement within the following levels will be determined based on relevant experience and proficiency:

• Entry: 0–2 years of experience
• Mid: 2–4 years of experience
• Expert: 4–6 years of experience
• Senior: 6+ years of experience

Each level reflects progressively greater technical knowledge, problem-solving ability, independence, and leadership in maintaining plant equipment and systems.

Materials

The plant will provide required tools, but candidates may use personal tools if reviewed and approved by plant management.

Physical Demands

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close vision to identify defects and repair fabricated parts and machinery.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
• Frequently required to reach, stoop, bend, squat, stretch, and twist.
• Must work in, with, and near machinery and use hand tools.
• Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, steel/composite toe shoes, and gloves.
• Must apply critical thinking to perform problem-solving for complex tasks, including hazard recognition and risk mitigation.
• Must provide clear directions for tasks and operate machines and support equipment.
• Must be able to work at heights and use a ladder.

Work Environment

• Typical manufacturing environment with proximity to other production associates, materials, and machinery.
• Moderate to high noise levels requiring ear protection.
• Moderate exposure to heat, cold, and noise, dependent on external weather conditions.
• Work areas may occasionally have wet or damp conditions.

Pay

$20–25 per hour
