Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work to construct, remodel, and/or maintain Community facilities and residences.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience equivalent to two years full time general construction or closely related skilled trades work
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
Examples of Duties
- Performs skilled work in a variety of construction trades, including concrete finisher, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical, to construct, remodel, and/or maintain Community facilities and residences.
- Reads/interprets and follows plans, blueprints, and sketches of proposed construction/remodel projects;
- Installs/repairs plumbing fixtures, doors, windows;
- BUILDS shelving;
- FORMS/FINISHES concrete projects.
- PERFORMS a variety of manual and semi-skilled activities associated with gas and water/wastewater line maintenance/construction, including locating gas or water/wastewater lines, and TAPPING gas and water/wastewater main lines.
- OPERATES a variety of medium construction equipment, including backhoe, front end loader, and dump truck, as needed.
- MaintAINS preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
Other Requirements
- Knowledge of materials, practices, and equipment used in gas and water/wastewater system maintenance/construction activities.
- Knowledge of the elements of construction technology as they relate to the assigned construction, remodel, or maintenance projects.
- Knowledge of HVAC repairs and maintenance.
- Knowledge of test equipment, such as meters, manifold gauges, pressure temperature charts, vacuum pumps and recovery units and procedures.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions for operating construction equipment.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and materials used in facilities maintenance/construction work.
- Knowledge of a variety of construction trades practices and techniques, including carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical.
Skill Requirements
- Skill in reading and understanding blueprints, construction drawings, and sketches used for construction, remodel, and maintenance projects.
- Skill in understanding and following oral and written instructions.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other Community employees and the public.
- Skill in operating and maintaining assigned power equipment.
