Maintenance Technician- Assisted Living

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

• Understands and complies with all rules and regulations.
• Understands thoroughly all procedures and regulations for Fire Safety, Bomb Threat and Disaster Programs.
• Understands thoroughly the basic operation of the equipment within the facility.
• Cleans and maintains a clean, sanitary workstation that is in compliance with departmental guidelines.
• Conducts Preventative Maintenance Procedures on facility equipment.
• Undertakes minor repairs of plumbing and electrical nature on mechanical equipment.
• Understands when it is a better decision to seek advice from the Vice President of Facilities Management where advanced mechanical knowledge is required.
• Assists the Vice president of Facilities Management or his assistant in making major repairs.
• Records all pertinent information relating to Planned or Repair maintenance on the proper log forms.
• Adheres to proper safety procedures while operating, repairing, testing or utilizing any piece of equipment within the facility.
• Participates in continuing education classes relative to Engineering Maintenance.
• Attends and participates in all in-service training programs organized and conducted by the Vice-President of Facilities Management.
• Communicates in an effective manner with all facility personnel, visitors or residents.
• Maintains an available schedule on off-duty hours for EMERGENCY calls to the facility.
• Communicates in an effective manner with all facility personnel, visitors or residents.
• Participates in continuing education classes relative to Engineering Maintenance.
• Attends and participates in all in-service training programs organized and conducted by the Vice-President of Facilities Management.
• Communicates in an effective manner with all facility personnel, visitors or residents.
• Maintains an available schedule on off-duty hours for EMERGENCY calls to the facility.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• One to three months related experience and/or training.
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• No special vision requirements.
