Maintenance Technician Apprentice

About the role

Our site in Chaska, MN is seeking a Maintenance Technician Apprentice to join our team. The Maintenance Technician Apprentice performs a variety of tasks and assignments including the maintenance and repair of production equipment and facility infrastructure. The focus will be on equipment uptime and reliability, preventative maintenance, safety, troubleshooting, controls and automation equipment, and process improvements. This position will gain experience as a Maintenance Technician while completing relevant coursework through the apprenticeship program.

Schedule

First shift, Monday-Friday with flexible hours depending on coursework. Opportunity to work on 2nd or 3rd shift full time after apprenticeship program is completed.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits on equipment.
• Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using testing instruments.
• Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
• Mounts motors and completes circuits per diagram specifications.
• Stays current with all codes and attends Entegris training.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with job specifications and safety requirements.
• Serves as a primary resource for controls and automation maintenance issues.
• Utilizes the computerized work order system, enters information, and completes all required documentation thoroughly and timely.
• Focuses on key business processes to influence customer satisfaction, waste elimination, growth, cost effectiveness, and product quality.
• Follows standard Engineering and Technology practices and procedures.
• Participates in Entegris' continual quality improvement process and dedication to customer satisfaction.
• Completes miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Wears required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures.
• Communicates potential hazards immediately to supervisor and identifies and corrects potential unsafe conditions.
• Performs robot PM’s – inspection of pneumatic and electrical connections and lines for functionality.
• Inspects in-house built equipment and associated PMs.
• Replaces components and adjusts sensors when required.
• Adjusts production floor robot program points and troubleshoots robot functional issues that arise.
• Troubleshoots and adjusts in-house built and vendor custom-built equipment issues pertaining to sensors, motor drives, vision systems, PLC, and HMI issues.
• Handles network communication to and from equipment – troubleshooting and repair of issues.
• Supports tooling setup after mold tear down for service or cleaning by adjusting core servo homing adjustment.
• Adds new variant part numbers to automated equipment.
• Updates test inspection programs for new variant parts and/or test spec updates to current equipment.
• Updates data output info to CamLine for data collection of current equipment.
• Connects production floor robots to RJG for bad part quarantine.
• Clears all robots and automated equipment for safe re-start after a power outage or shut down.
• Works with and supports robotics, electrical (AC/DC), hydraulics, pneumatic, servo motors, sensors, HMI interfaces, and complex mechanical equipment.
• Provides support for PLC, HMI, servo and stepper drives, Faunc, Sepro and Star Robots, and vision systems.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree (controls, automation, robotics, electrical, mechanical-electrical, etc.) or equivalent experience and training in a manufacturing environment.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of SolidWorks or CAD or equivalent, Word, Excel.
• High degree of mechanical aptitude and creative problem-solving skills.
• Hands-on electrical experience.
• Advanced troubleshooting skills.
• Self-motivation and self-direction.
• Ability to work occasionally on weekends and overtime as required.
• Ability to work occasionally on call.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to train and support co-workers.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
• Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn on the production floor, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, respiratory protection, and high-visibility vests.
• Adherence to cleanroom attire standards is required (when in cleanroom), including gown, hair and beard nets, shoe coverings, and gloves.
• Involves working from elevated heights at times; use of harness and other protective equipment is required.
• Involves repetitively pinching and grasping hand tools, as well as repetitively twisting and bending.

Pay

$28-$32 hourly range, with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role. Annual bonus eligible.
