About the Role
The Maintenance Coordinator serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). This role is responsible for maintaining or coordinating service, repair, and maintenance of DVIS-owned facilities and equipment that does not require a license issued by the State of Oklahoma or the City of Tulsa.
Responsibilities

- Maintenance and Repair
- Perform plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks to complete work orders and prepare rooms or apartments for clients.
- Conduct routine maintenance on structures, including HVAC, appliances, and other equipment not requiring a license.
- Diagnose and repair equipment such as AC, heating, plumbing, and electrical appliances.
- Coordinate repairs for items under warranty or requiring a licensed technician.
- Provide emergency, unscheduled, and scheduled repairs after normal business hours when necessary.
- Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and perform general cleanup of common areas.
- Pick up and deliver items as needed and comply with safety regulations.
- Maintain availability at both Safe Housing and Apache offices.
- Administrative Tasks
- Maintain a work order system and schedule vendors/contractors for repairs outside routine maintenance.
- Work with the Assistant Shelter Director and/or Vice President of Safe Housing to prioritize and approve maintenance projects.
- Track and perform routine maintenance at all DVIS locations.
- Coordinate lawn and outdoor maintenance, including playgrounds, parking lots, and fencing.
- Other duties to support departmental and organizational goals, as assigned.
- Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibilities
- Stay within budget and prepare purchase requests for maintenance and repairs.
- Act as a steward of DVIS’s resources.
- Confidentiality
- Safeguard confidential and proprietary information of DVIS and its clients.
- Documentation and Meetings
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate files according to agency guidelines.
- Attend meetings and training as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of related maintenance experience or equivalent combination of experience, lived experience, and/or special skills. Prior experience in apartment maintenance is preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and standard measuring instruments, hand, and power tools (e.g., drills, saws, wrenches, pipe cutters).
- Ability to read, interpret, and write safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with employees, customers, and external organizations.
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to apply common-sense understanding to instructions.
- Knowledge of heating and cooling equipment and tools.
- Preferred: Experience with social justice issues, including intimate partner violence, racial, class, gender, and sexual orientation equity.
- Dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion; excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while supporting DVIS’s philosophies on diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.

Schedule
Part-time availability of 12 hours per week, generally Monday–Friday, with occasional extended workdays or weekend requirements.
Licenses/Certifications
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, in person and in writing.
- Ability to hear adequately in person and by phone, with periodic distractions.
- Mobility to access various offices and settings, including standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing stairs.
- Ability to reach, move, and/or lift 50–75 pounds and use hands for repetitive tasks such as keyboarding or handling tools.
