Maintenance Technician - Ames, IA
About the role
A Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in keeping operations running safely and efficiently by maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement. This hands-on role partners closely with production teams to ensure reliable output, uphold safety and quality standards, and support overall plant performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform and coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure efficient plant operations.
- Maintain production equipment to meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO, cGMP).
- Collaborate with production teams and cross-functional partners to support continuous, on-time manufacturing output.
- Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing safety standards and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Plan, schedule, and document maintenance activities while coordinating with external vendors as needed.
- Support training and development of operators on basic maintenance tasks to enhance team capability and efficiency.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training and 3+ years of maintenance experience preferred.
- Execute preventative and corrective maintenance to keep equipment running reliably and reduce downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues to quickly restore production operations.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards across all activities.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Cookordination with production and other teams to support efficient, on-time output.
- Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed to support continuous production operations, including occasional weekend work and potential call-ins during off-hours to meet customer commitments.
Qualifications

Pay
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Hourly $25.00-$28.00.
