Responsibilities
- Performs general facility repairs such as minor plumbing, general electric, lighting, painting, and wall repair.
- Aids other Mechanics with major repairs and tenant improvement work as requested.
- Communicates with all peers, customers, and management to accomplish assigned and critical tasks.
- Oversees Third Party project completion.
- Supports and performs reactive repairs and preventative maintenance to maintain operation of equipment.
- Troubleshoots facility specific system controls and adjusts/calibrates or repairs as needed.
- Works with vendor partners to determine the root cause of issues and appropriate corrections.
- Maintains production-related equipment, Powered Industrial Vehicles, and building equipment as needed.
- Maintains complete inventory and cleaning of all equipment and work areas.
- Identifies and corrects safety hazards and potential maintenance issues before they become critical.
- Supports the design and implementation of continuous improvement processes.
- Performs trouble-shooting and needed tasks involving low and high voltage electrical and control systems of 480 volt devices (AC and DC), including repair or replacement of system components.
- Recommends and performs installations of new or replacement facility equipment.
- Works with In-House and Third Party installation.
- Detects, diagnoses, and resolves electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating/cooling, and equipment problems before they impact the operation of the facility.
- Ensures the maintenance shop area is organized, neat and clean.
- Communicates with all peers, customers, and management regarding safety issues and training requirements.
- Participates in safety audits and adheres to the company's safety culture.
- Utilizes materials and tools to design/create/repair custom equipment to support Cardinal's operation (i.e., wood, metal, etc.).
- Performs necessary data entry (i.e., work order tracking/filing) and keeps current tools and documents updated as necessary (i.e., Material Safety Data Sheets, fall protection harness).
- Maintains records to ensure accountability of time, parts and repairs.
- Reads blueprints, manuals and schematics and interprets technical manuals.
- Prioritizes tasks to ensure all requests are completed in a timely manner.
- Communicates with and provides completed Work Orders or updates daily to management.
- Oversees small/medium-sized projects within the facility and provides oversight of Third Party vendors.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Trade school degree or equivalent experience in industrial mechanic trade school courses or certificate (i.e., electrical, controls, plumbing, welding, etc.) is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of three to five years’ experience with mechanical and electrical systems, in a fast-paced production environment.
- Previous experience with and working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Advanced/Intermediate mastery of PLC (not required).
- Working knowledge of standard building codes and safety regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Strong prioritization skills and ability to make decisions independently.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to oversee the timely completion of multiple tasks daily.
- Good working knowledge of building codes, National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to be on call, work days or nights, weekends and overtime if needed.
- Strong computer skills.
