Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs of production and processing equipment as well as utility related equipment, following all safety procedures
- Support the installation of new equipment
- Aid the operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime
- Ensure all repairs are documented
- Foster teamwork consistent with our company and plant mission, vision, and core values
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
- Follow all DFA GMP's and works in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
- Maintain safe working conditions for employees and comply with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
- Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrived
- Exhibit the values and ethics of DFA through honesty, discretion, and sound judgement
- Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety, and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
- Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Two or more years of mechanical/electrical education certification or equivalent experience in manufacturing facilities, preferably food experience
- Must have or obtain 1st class B boilers license within 12 months and follow hour requirements to upgrade license
- SAP experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Flexible to support weekend work schedule
- Able to perform electrical work (change pump motors, diagnose motor control problem, etc.)
- Knows pneumatics, solenoid valves, and air cylinders
- Able to use standard maintenance tools in a safe manner
- Able to perform minor projects from planning to installation (typically, this includes non-sanitary piping, drain lines, vacuum lines)
- Able to perform routine repairs in a safe and timely fashion (rebuilding product/water pumps, boiler maintenance, HVAC, VFD's, sanitary valves, piping leaks)
- Able to perform routine preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment, identify any abnormal conditions, and maintain appropriate records
- Able to perform basic welding for repair and fabrication (tig/stick)
- Able to follow process control computer variables and schematics and diagnose system problems
- Able to assist other mechanics on more complicated repairs in a safe and useful manner
- Able to have good interpersonal skills necessary to foster cooperation and effectively communicate with others
- Able to successfully complete a written maintenance test conducted by Maintenance Manager
- Basic computer skills
- Able to read, write and speak English
