About the role

The Industrial Maintenance Technician maintains and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient production while adhering to food-safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, inspect, perform preventive maintenance (PM), and install production mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on production equipment using testing devices and technical schematics.
  • Execute repairs on mechanical and electrical production equipment and systems.
  • Install new mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Assist in upgrading existing mechanical and electrical systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, industry standards, and food-safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using a CMMS system.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations.
  • Respond promptly to mechanical and electrical emergencies to prevent production interruptions.
  • Perform routine housekeeping activities and adhere to established safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical technology preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience as an industrial maintenance technician, preferably in food processing or manufacturing.
  • Strong mechanical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Eagerness to continue learning and self-improvement.

Skills

  • Mathematical: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rate, ratio, and percent; calculate dimensions, tolerances, proportions, and percentages; apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning: Solve practical problems with limited standardization; interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands to handle or touch objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently push, pull, lift, and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Operate hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, plumbing equipment, and measuring devices.
  • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic/caustic chemicals.
  • Moderate noise level; requires steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
