About the Role
This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and skilled repairs on complex production equipment and systems. The role involves monitoring equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness, conducting failure analysis, and logging equipment modifications and maintenance details.
Responsibilities
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g., conveyor systems, production equipment) in accordance with operation manuals and manufacturer’s specifications, using hand and power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Troubleshoots equipment downtime and implements countermeasures to prevent recurrence.
- Trains operators and other mechanics on proper procedures as needed.
- Attends company-scheduled training classes.
- Complies with company and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Focus Areas
- Bearings, seals, and lubrication
- Mechanical drives, including belt, chain, gear, shafts, couplings, and shaft alignment
- Mechanical timing of equipment
- Pneumatic systems in industrial applications
- Reading equipment diagrams and schematics
- PLC/Controls Troubleshooting, including working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley most used devices in operation)
- Electrical troubleshooting
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Formal training in air conditioning, welding, machining, auto repair, electronics, or industrial mechanics. Additional years of experience may substitute for training.
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years’ experience in a high-speed packaging or similar manufacturing environment.
