Maintenance Technician - 2nd Shift Weekday (Monday - Friday)
Starting wage: $32.78 - 37.73/hr (based on Tech Level). Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:30pm.

About the Role
The Maintenance Tech is responsible for providing the maintenance and repair of the plant’s machinery, grounds, buildings, and equipment. Great things are happening at the Sister Schubert’s Horse Cave Campus, and as we continue to grow, the T. - Maintains the highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
- Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields, and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility.
- Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machines and safely performs all functions in accordance with OSHA and company requirements and standards.
- Performs daily inspection of power equipment with proper documentation.
- Completes Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem-solving.

- Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility.
- Completes Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem-solving.
- Ensures compliance with quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, OSHA, and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer, and government standards.
- Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable SOPs containing Process or Preventive Control monitoring or verification, if trained and designated as a Qualified Individual (QI).
- Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality, and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary.
Maintenance Tech Levels and Responsibilities
Maintenance Tech I

- Has own tools for daily maintenance tasks.
- Works varied shifts for training.
- Works from a ladder safely.
- Works in small spaces.
- Changes drive belts, timing belts, & chains.
- Able to use basic shop tools.
- Attempts to identify potential downtime situations.
- Lubricates machinery with correct lubricant.
- Maintains company standards for cleanliness, safety & productivity.
- Ensures compliance to 5's, HACCP, & OSHA standards.
- Paints & repairs any surface in or around building & grounds.
- Capable of performing functional tasks of prerequisite Maintenance Tech level(s), as applicable.
- Completes all daily paperwork & knows its importance.
- Provides maintenance support to packaging & processing equipment.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing components & fittings.
- Basic welding.
- Changes filters & oils in plants.
- Rebuilds product pump per sanitation guidelines.
- Maintains water towers & tests water along with cleaning of towers.
- Identifies & replaces bearings.
- Can replace electric motor single or 3 phase.
- Sets up packaging equipment.
- Performs water test, pH test, total hardness, & conductivity.
- Maintains, cleans & inspects HVAC units in our plants.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Maintenance Tech II

- Capable of performing functional tasks of prerequisite Maintenance Tech level(s), as applicable.
- Sets up & uses plasma cutter properly & safely.
- Sets up & uses Lathe.
- Sets up & uses Vertical Mill.
- Performs boiler tests, cleans & repairs boilers.
- Has basic understanding & assists in refrigeration.
- Welds with Tig, Mig, Stick welders on mild steel & stainless.
- Repairs & troubleshoots mechanical problems on lifts.
- Must be able to read P&ID.
- Maintains, repairs, tracks, & adjusts conveyor belts.
- Can perform monthly sprinkler test.
- Wires & troubleshoots a start/stop circuit.
- Attends tool time meetings.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Maintenance Tech III

- Capable of performing functional tasks of prerequisite Maintenance Tech level(s), as applicable.
- Able to go online with Compact, ControlLogix, or Micrologix serial & ethernet.
- Navigates & has basic understanding of PLC programs.
- Replaces programs for all different types of drives & able to use the HMI.
- Welds all types of metals with all types of welders & welds aluminum.
- Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system compressor.
- Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system condenser.
- Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system evaps & valve stations.
- Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system Hansen Auto Purger.
- Maintains the NH3 refrigeration system tanks & pumps.
- Must have a good understanding of ammonia refrigeration & able to start up.
- Maintains, operates, sets up, & troubleshoots KHS baggers.
- Maintains, operates, sets up, & troubleshoots Ishida Scales.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned by Management.
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude and accurate troubleshooting ability are required, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Ability to successfully work independently and as a team with minimal supervision to accomplish tasks as assigned.
- Must be able to successfully obtain industrial truck and lift operating certification and safely maintain per company and OSHA standards.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – verbally & written – and work well with Team Members, Management, Customers & Vendors.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation, ability to properly use/operate accurate tools, and good math skills are required.
- Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required, Industrial Maintenance Degree preferred.
Working Conditions
- Works in a manufacturing environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read and comprehend, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Must be able to push/pull 150 pounds short distances.
- Lifting of up to 75 pounds repetitively.
- Standing required for up to 12-hour shifts with regular breaks.
- May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
- The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment, and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.
- The noise level in the plant is loud.
- SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards.
- Condition of these items must be inspected by the employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing optimal protection.
- If facial hair exists, it must be trimmed to allow proper wear of an ammonia respirator
