Cérélia's newly established Frozen Breakfast Business Unit – US Waffle – is driving an ambitious growth strategy, backed by two manufacturing facilities in Liberty, SC, and Hazelwood, MO. To support the rapid scaling of operations at our state-of-the-art Hazelwood facility, we are seeking a dynamic and skilled Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment in a food processing environment while meeting objectives for safety, quality, production/delivery, and cost.
Responsibilities
- Receive work orders/requests and review to determine tools, equipment, time, manpower, parts, and supplies needed.
- Respond to crisis calls with basic tools and equipment necessary to perform work.
- Read blueprints, schematics (including electrical), wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Maintain various activity records and logs.
- Observe equipment or machinery while in operation to detect malfunctions.
- Disassemble mechanical equipment, identify faulty/worn parts, replace, reassemble, and test.
- Test major subsystems or components to localize problems using specialized equipment.
- Fabricate replacement parts, which may require welding, cutting, or sheet metal work.
- Perform preventive maintenance on various mechanical systems and equipment.
- Install new equipment/appliances, including utilities (e.g., electrical, water, gas, or drain lines).
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical equipment, piping systems, and electrical controls/components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, local regulations, and US Waffle food safety and safety policies.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical equipment such as pumps, packaging and slicing equipment, harvest and cutting equipment.
- Operate a variety of small hand tools and devices used in general mechanical maintenance.
- Maintain working knowledge of OSHA, GFSI, QF, USDA, and FDA regulations.
- Adhere to all FDA, USDA, local authority, and GFSI food safety and quality policies and procedures; report any nonconformity.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety policies and procedures; report any nonconformity.
- Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures; report any nonconformity.
- Follow Lock-Out Tag-Out guidelines and practices while performing machine maintenance.
- Available for on-call duties 24/7.
- Actively participate in plant programs and procedures, including:
- Observing safety regulations, wearing required safety equipment, encouraging safe working practices, and correcting obvious hazards immediately or reporting them to management.
- Maintaining progress reports of work orders.
- Aiding in QA investigations into customer complaints where applicable.
- Maintaining a Master Preventative Maintenance Schedule.
- Ensuring customer needs are met by executing all repairs in a timely manner.
- Supporting the Emergency Evacuation Plan.
- Supporting and maintaining all management directives.
- Actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, lean tools).
- Monitoring and operating wastewater equipment to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Cleaning and maintaining work area after mechanical work has been performed daily.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
- Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma, or associate degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school (preferred).
- Ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and remain calm.
- Organized problem solver, able to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift, scissor lift, or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
- Experience with high-speed packaging machinery and industrial electrical PLCs.
- Familiarity with sanitary environments is desired.
- Mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems, and control system knowledge is an asset.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication with an excellent command of the English language.
- Positive, proactive, and self-motivated with leadership qualities.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) is an asset.
- Experience working with CMMS software.
- Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
Schedule
4:00 PM – 2:30 AM, Monday – Thursday (40 hours per week). Additional shift hours and weekends may be required depending on business needs.
Pay
Includes a $1.00 2nd shift differential.
