Able to work other Ritchie County locations if needed. Rotating 12-hour shift.

Summary: Maintenance Technician 2 responsibilities including but not limited to, setting up equipment as needed, repairing equipment, and ordering replacement parts.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair complex electro-mechanical problems with manufacturing equipment
  • Perform detailed setup on equipment including recipe changes and control adjustments
  • Repair and keep mechanical machine components in top operating condition
  • Perform simple to complex mechanical Preventative Maintenance Tasks following instructions
  • Intermediate understanding of electrical principles such as voltage, current and resistance
  • Diagnose and repair electrical control circuits, field devices, sensors, photo eyes, etc.
  • Intermediate understanding of electrical safety and motor control circuits and programmable drives
  • Troubleshoot the inputs and outputs on PLC and repair issues
  • Complete projects to add electrical circuits and controls, new equipment and relocate machines
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic systems including repairs of cylinders and other components
  • Enter all work completed in computer-based maintenance program
  • Monitor and report spare parts usage including completing parts order forms
  • Adjust equipment based on Statistical Process Control data and team with QA
  • Train new and Level 1 mechanics in more complex tasks and skills
  • Support manufacturing operations by responding to maintenance calls and completing simple repairs
  • Troubleshoot all equipment in a timely manner – call for additional support on complex problems
  • Learn and support manufacturing equipment recipe changes and control adjustments
  • Understand and maintain/adjust basic drive train and power train components
  • Start up and shut down equipment per established procedures and schedules
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related field is desired
  • Minimum 3 years' maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lock-Out, Tag-Out procedures
  • Able to strictly adhere to safety policies/procedures and be committed to customer quality
  • Must be available for regular standby assignments; work scheduled off-hours and emergency overtime as required
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • Must be willing to attend training sessions as needed, including out of state locations
  • Ability to assist in Training Level I Technicians
  • Intermediate knowledge of fabrication (ex. welding, basic machining)
  • Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting
  • Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ability to show attention to detail in a very fast paced environment
  • Flexible and willing to work overtime as required

Physical Requirements

  • Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work with exposure to potentially hazardous conditions
  • Will use a variety of hand and power tools, may drive a motor vehicle and/or light construction equipment, fork trucks, platform lifts, etc.
  • Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 pounds and heavier weights with the use of proper equipment and assistance
  • Must be able to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use fingers and hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel; talk and hear
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and sit for long periods, as well as occasionally be required to climb or balance
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus
  • Exposure to variable temperatures as impacted by the weather

Work Environment

Mainly a manufacturing facility, where exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, heavy pallets, moderate to loud noise level, and air-borne dust, powders, and fumes. While working, will be required to wear various personal protective equipment (e.g., clothing, gloves, goggles, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, cut resistant aprons, etc.) based on work area or task.
