Maintenance Tech Specialist - Pipefitter

About the role

The Maintenance Technician Specialist - Pipe-fitter is responsible for handling hydraulic/combustion repairs and performing quality repairs and troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be competent in performing equipment repairs to varied mechanical and fluids systems, including changing problem components and performing preventive maintenance on these systems. This position is located at our East Alton, IL facility.

Responsibilities

• Work together with and/or lead the operating crew to minimize downtime and maximize productivity
• Make complex decisions on how a hydraulic/combustion repair is to proceed and perform quality repairs the first time
• Lead the completion of more complicated and specialized fluids troubleshooting and repair tasks
• Work with the production team for constant improvement
• Perform administrative duties as assigned, including completion of work order documentation and data entry into the computerized maintenance system

Requirements

• Minimum of five years heavy industrial/maintenance experience or a four-year apprenticeship certification required
• Experience with hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and combustion systems is required
• Experience with mounting and setting equipment (rigging experience desired), repairing mechanical transmission equipment, repairing fluid power systems, general equipment breakdown maintenance, and heavy equipment experience is considered a plus
• Experience with fabricating light gauge guarding and repair of metal products using Mig Welders, Tig Welders, Arc Welding, or Stick Welding is considered a plus
• Understanding of infrared, acoustics, and other predictive maintenance practices is considered a plus
• Must be able to work swing shift and overtime as required

$44.67/hour
