About the role

The Maintenance Tech Specialist position at FedEx is responsible for maintaining and repairing various industrial maintenance systems and equipment. This role requires a combination of mechanical, electrical, and welding skills, along with the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed procedures as directed by work orders or management
  • Identify and repair problems using sound judgment and fact-based analysis
  • Solve mechanical or electrical problems, including understanding of engineering formulas
  • Utilize the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software to enter and retrieve prescribed data
  • Communicate effectively within the department, operations, vendors, and support teams
  • Manage time and organize tasks efficiently

Requirements

  • Minimum six (6) years of experience, four (4) of those in FedEx Industrial Maintenance or external supporting similar material handling systems
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certificates in Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics, electrical or mechanical trade, or related area, and an associate degree in a related area preferred

Skills

  • Ability to follow detailed procedures
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and repair problems
  • Subject matter expertise in electrical, mechanical, and PLC/controls troubleshooting, repair, and installation
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and organizational skills

Pay

$20.35 - $47.47 per hour

Schedule

Hours vary based on department needs.

Qualifications

Must possess the following:

  • Subject matter expertise in mechanical power transmission, electrical, and PLC/Controls
  • Advanced welding/fabrication skills
  • Knowledge of engineering formulas
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Experience with Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Time management and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Multiple certificates and degrees assessed by manager and HR
  • Experience in similar material handling systems

Job Conditions

  • May need to use hand tools and possibly power tools
  • May work in hot or cold temperatures
  • May need to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat
