Maintenance Tech 1 - 1st Shift

Michael Foods, Inc. is a leader in the food processing and distribution industry, offering exciting career opportunities in egg products, refrigerated grocery, and potato products. The Wakefield facility is one of the largest production plants within Michael Foods, serving as a flex plant capable of producing everything from whole pasteurized eggs to liquid, dried, hardboiled eggs, and curds.
The Maintenance Technician L1 (MTL1) provides both maintenance and reliability services within the plant, focusing on asset health improvement and ensuring seamless operations. This role emphasizes executional excellence in preventive and corrective maintenance programs while partnering with plant teams to achieve company objectives.
This position operates on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Availability to work weekends and holidays as necessary is required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical repairs on plant equipment, address minor electrical repairs, and complete preventive maintenance tasks.
- Read blueprints and wiring schematics; use hand and power tools proficiently.
- Operate in a dynamic environment involving power transmissions, machine foundations, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Participate in reliability and maintenance team efforts to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Contribute to the advancement of Michael Foods’ culture and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques.
- Execute technical troubleshooting tasks with experienced maintenance personnel.
- Actively participate in maintenance training, reliability procedures, and quality commissioning for new or rebuilt equipment.
- Assist maintenance craftsmen during precision maintenance assignments.
- Utilize the MFI-approved CMMS to manage, document, and support reliability reporting and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records as required.
- Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to foster continuous asset reliability improvement.
- Promote and uphold Michael Foods’ culture, values, and principles while demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Adhere to all safety policies, food safety, quality practices (GMPs), and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent).
- Associate’s degree, two-year technical certificate, or equivalent experience demonstrating technical aptitude preferred.
- 1 year of experience as an industrial maintenance technician preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and P&ID diagrams preferred.
- Prior experience with SAP preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-starter willing to accept maintenance and process responsibility, including KPI results.

- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Exposure to a noisy environment with temperature variations from hot to cold.
