Maintenance - Support Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance activities to maximize production, safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Generate and complete work orders to ensure materials are available from the parts room.
• Initiate work requests when immediate action is needed.
• Communicate and collaborate with other operators, line leaders, and the technical leader on maintenance issues.
• Initiate preventative maintenance and inspection functions and update programs as needed.
• Participate in training to enhance technical, teamwork, creativity, and communication skills.
• Contribute to root-cause failure analysis with team members and maintenance leaders for major downtimes.
• Actively participate in team and plant meetings and activities.
• Follow all safety, housekeeping, and regulatory agency requirements.
• Accurately troubleshoot, perform preventative maintenance, coach, and teach, and repair equipment to original specifications.
• Read and understand technical documentation including electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Safely operate maintenance shop tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma plus two years of technical training preferred.
• Two to five years of maintenance experience preferred.
• Excellent technical and troubleshooting skills and knowledge of all crafts, including mechanical, electrical, and technical.
• Machinist skills, welding, light fabrication, and electrical skills are a plus.
• Leadership skills include conflict resolution, problem-solving, effective listening, giving and receiving feedback, organization, time management, goal and priority setting, continuous improvement, safety mindset, cross-functional interaction, and teamwork.
• Computer skills.

Requirements

• Understand, troubleshoot, and repair the following mechanical systems: pumps, power transmission equipment, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, utility systems, lubrication fundamentals.
• Understand, troubleshoot, and repair the following electrical systems: AC and DC equipment control circuits, AC motors, DC motors, variable frequency drives, process sensors, servo control systems, fanuc robotics, programmable logic controllers, relay ladder logic, electrical and mechanical drawings, including schematics.
• Be a highly motivated, self-directed worker capable of working alone or in a team environment to solve problems and implement solutions.
• Experience with root cause analysis tools, failure modes, and continuous improvement preferred.
• Ability to follow safe work practices such as LOTO.

• Successfully qualify on operational skills and function as an operator when needed.
• Adhere to the plant's attendance policy.
• Business needs may require long hours and occasional weekends.
• Perform necessary physical activities for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment including: climbing stairs and ladders, standing on, and moving around on platforms, equipment, and concrete floors, working at elevated levels, lifting objects up to 75 pounds using proper lifting techniques, standing and walking at least 70% of the time.
