Job Summary
The Maintenance Support Technician plays an important role on the maintenance team in supporting operations by ensuring reliability and uptime on production equipment. This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance activities, assisting with equipment changeovers, supporting maintenance projects, and maintaining centralized shop systems.
Responsibilities
- Mechanical & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform routine preventive maintenance activities including lubrication, greasing, belt replacements, inspections, and equipment servicing
- Complete assigned work orders for basic equipment repairs and maintenance tasks
- Identify and report advanced mechanical wear, damage, or potential equipment failures to Maintenance Technicians
- Support equipment reliability initiatives by maintaining maintenance standards and procedures
- Equipment Setup & Changeovers
- Execute mechanical changeovers on production equipment including tray formers, packers, filler, and shrink wrappers
- Adjust guide rails, sensors, timing belts, and other components to accommodate different can sizes and packaging configurations
- Perform post-changeover test runs to verify proper operation and product quality standards are met
- Absorb downtime during changeovers and startup activities
- Safety & Documentation
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements
- Maintain compliance with food safety, GMP, HACCP, and sanitation requirements
- Accurately document completed preventive maintenance activities, work orders, and parts usage within the CMMS system
- Participate in safety training and continuous improvement initiatives
- Collaboration
- Assist Maintenance Technicians with preventive maintenance activities, projects, and repairs as needed
- Support production teams with equipment setup and troubleshooting assistance within the scope of the role
- Perform shop cleanup, organization, and maintenance of tools, parts inventory, and maintenance work areas
- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to support operational efficiency and equipment uptime
Experience & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Technical training, trade school education, or maintenance coursework, preferred
- Previous manufacturing, production, mechanical, automotive, agricultural, or maintenance experience, preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance practices
- Basic understanding of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and follow maintenance procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment
