About the role

The Maintenance Support Specialist (MSS-4) supports the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities associated with TA-55's Vital Safety Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Supports schedule development and provides informed input based on material availability, receipt dates, and work-package readiness.
  • Tracks MSS material orders, provides Estimated Delivery Dates (EDDs), and supplies accurate scheduling input for all related maintenance activities.
  • Manages priorities and emergent work, implements effective feedback mechanisms, and maintains open, daily communication with support groups and Work Week Coordinators to ensure compliance, availability, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Participates in outage planning and development, contributes to the annual MSS schedule, and develops reporting metrics.
  • Tracks work packages, supports initiative and goal tracking, and retrieves and generates reports from CMMS and OBI systems for MSS work orders and equipment.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision.

Requirements

Broad expertise and experience with performance assurance processes, including the development, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures. Strong knowledge of CMMS platforms, databases, and reporting systems used in maintenance program management or similar operational environments. Ability to fully understand work control processes, maintenance workflows, and/or materials management practices. Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring personnel in lower-level positions. In-depth knowledge and experience with document control, configuration management, and records retention requirements. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to interact effectively across diverse teams. Extensive experience preparing, analyzing, and presenting reports for management and operational decision-making. Demonstrated ability to self-supervise, work independently, and manage tasks with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
  • Desired qualifications include TA55 working experience, knowledge of MSS processes and scheduling, and ability to gain HRP Certification.

Work Environment

Work Location: Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer. Regular Position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status. Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. Please refer to Policy P701 for applicant eligibility requirements. Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th.
