About the role
We are seeking an experienced A&P mechanic to take on the role of Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor. The successful candidate must have above average leadership, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be a motivated self-starter and able to work without close supervision in a high stress maintenance environment under strict timelines.
Essential Functions
- Ensure the safe and efficient maintenance of company aircraft within their assigned base in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Responsible for managing, coordinating, and providing oversight for shift leads, aircraft maintenance personnel, and any outside vendors contracted out for specific jobs.
- Ensures the timely and accurate communication of essential information to the Assistant Director of Maintenance as required.
- Work closely with shift leads/job leads to monitor progress of major inspections, line maintenance, and AOG situations.
- With the help of Maintenance Control, coordinates maintenance personnel schedules at their assigned base to provide adequate manpower coverage as needed to support aircraft maintenance operations.
- Coaches and mentors direct reports to further advance their effectiveness and career development. Works closely with the Assistant Director of Maintenance to provide quarterly check-ins as well as yearly performance reviews for their direct reports.
- Maintains training, qualifications, and level of proficiency for maintenance personnel at their assigned base.
- Coordinate with maintenance control for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Meet with parts personnel regularly to discuss inventory levels/organization, AOG parts ordering and help rectify any parts related issues when necessary.
- Provide resources and technical support as necessary in cases of major mechanical problems or AOG situations.
- Improve efficiency and reliability by identifying recurring problems and recommending changes in procedures.
- Ensures shift turnover and work interruption procedures are followed to ensure incomplete maintenance is complied with before an aircraft is returned to service. This includes daily production meetings (10-15 minutes) to review and discuss quality & shop performance, shop safety procedures, updates on current jobs, assign work, and set priorities.
- Makes sure task creation in WinAir and, with the assistance from the records and compliance department, paperwork is distributed and corrected.
- Coordinates with all other base supervisors, and maintenance administrators on various maintenance reports, performance metrics, and polices/procedures.
- Makes sure time punches are monitored and addressed PTO requests for their assigned base.
- Performs additional duties assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Fluent in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and general computer-based operational tools.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, staff development, conflict management, negotiation skills, and the ability to make strategic decisions.
- Self-motivated team leader with excellent communication skills
- Able to work effectively under pressure and time constraints to support timely flight dispatch and operational reliability.
- Possesses strong knowledge of airport operations, ground handling, safety, and security compliance under FAA, TSA, and ICAO guidelines.
- Must consistently project a polished, professional image.
Required Qualifications
- 5 or more years’ experience as an A&P Mechanic
- 2 Years minimum experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- High degree of professionalism and ability to keep information confidential
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
- Valid US Driver’s License + Clean Driving Record
- Valid passport without travel restrictions
- Must be willing to travel to various parts of the Caribbean and US
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift / push or pull, greater than or equal to 55 lbs.
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and provide after-hours accessibility to personnel and leadership.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Ability to communicate effectively on the phone and in meetings (in person or virtual)
- Ability to use to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and standard office equipment
