About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor (Chemical Production) leads the maintenance department for a large chemical manufacturing facility, overseeing the upkeep and enhancement of site facilities and production equipment, as well as managing the Preventative Maintenance Program.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance department for a large chemical manufacturing facility.
  • Coordinate and direct maintenance projects, including detailed planning and integration of technical activities.
  • Support HS&E (Health, Safety & Environment), Quality and Service, and Productivity/Cost initiatives as defined by scorecard activities.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of facilities and chemical production equipment.
  • Manage the Preventative Maintenance Program to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Support capital project requirements, including cost, schedule, and procedural reviews for management submission.
  • Direct, review, and approve product design and changes in compliance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
  • Analyze annual utility expenditures and develop plans to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing reports, approving expenditures, and purchasing materials or services.
  • Investigate equipment failures, diagnose issues, and implement preventative measures with the maintenance crew.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity in hiring and promotion decisions.
  • Onboard new employees efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback with clear documentation.
  • Coach and manage employees using company philosophy and tools to develop and retain talent.
  • Apply company policies and processes to ensure compliance and best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4 years of additional related experience may substitute for a 4-year degree.
  • Familiarity with plant safety practices, chemical processes, equipment maintenance, statistical applications, and equipment operations.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and techniques for process design in chemical production.
  • Understanding of arithmetic, statistical methods, “Lean” concepts, ISO procedures, and their applications.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and SAP for system-driven solutions.

Qualifications

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, and lift up to 50 lbs.
