About the Role

Join the Materion team in Elmore, Ohio, where you’ll supervise maintenance activities for the Bulk Products Department. This working supervisor position ensures the facility’s equipment and structures are maintained to optimize operations and meet production requirements. You’ll collaborate closely with maintenance staff to support the operating schedule while enjoying small-town charm and outdoor adventures nearby.

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize equipment breakdowns.
  • Perform skilled electrical and mechanical repairs and assist with equipment installations.
  • Advise staff on complex or difficult maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to after-hour emergencies, assessing issues and performing repairs or coordinating resolution.
  • Maintain records and checklists to ensure timely inspections.
  • Manage equipment files for spare parts identification.
  • Monitor and control maintenance costs, reviewing monthly reports and addressing problem areas.
  • Ensure plant safety devices function as designed.
  • Evaluate and communicate risks related to environmental impacts.
  • Monitor environmental programs and update reports, including air velocity testing, emissions, confined space permits, and utilities discharge.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement design changes to improve production, safety, and operating costs.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel to ensure facility availability for production needs.
  • Oversee operating personnel in performing on-time maintenance, focusing on minor facility repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety rules among supervised employees.
  • Support Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Health and Safety functions to maintain quality registrations.
  • Determine the need for outside contractors, assist in bid specifications, and select contractors.
  • Serve as liaison with contractors, reviewing work for conformity to standards and ensuring safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; degree in Engineering or equivalent technology preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience with a strong hands-on mentality.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Export compliance eligibility required for access to U.S. controlled technology (ITAR/EAR). Candidates must qualify as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or national of an approved country, or obtain an export license.
