Responsibilities
- Direct preparation of specifications, layouts, drawings, cost estimates, etc.
- Ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
- Research, plan, and prepare proposals for capital equipment, expansion construction, major maintenance projects, and service contracts.
- Plan, organize, and administer departmental systems, procedures, operating budgets, continuous improvement, and controls for cost-effective operation.
- Build a cohesive team capable of meeting departmental, company, and corporate objectives and strategies.
- Provide coaching and continuous feedback for individual and team growth.
- Support lean and continuous improvement activities.
- Oversee the purchase of all plant non-raw materials and R&M supplies.
- Administer Preventative Maintenance System (PM), including writing and executing PMs.
- Supervise hourly maintenance mechanics, evaluating performance, providing feedback, and completing performance reviews as required.
Qualifications
- Successfully lead a maintenance group through exemplary leadership, integrity, and character.
- Experience in process systems and strong project management skills.
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and high-performance maintenance groups.
- Experience with baghouses, waste treatment systems, and environmental control systems is desired.
- Knowledge of CMMS (Computer maintenance management systems).
- Proficient in Microsoft applications.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Preferred a mechanical or chemical engineering degree.
- Minimum seven years’ experience in a lean manufacturing environment leading maintenance teams or similar roles.
- Bilingual in Spanish is helpful.
- Excellent general math skills.
Education and Experience
- Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
- Seven years of relevant experience in a lean manufacturing environment leading maintenance teams or similar roles.
Reasoning Ability
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to sit or stand/walk on concrete floors for extended periods.
- Must have finger dexterity for using a keyboard.
- Must be able to work in a lead acid battery manufacturing environment.
