About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Supervisor Maintenance provides leadership for maintenance functions, ensuring preventive maintenance of the physical plant and all operating equipment. The role focuses on electrical troubleshooting, minimizing equipment downtime, maximizing production capacity, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with all health and safety policies/procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with food quality and food safety standards as per corporate, customer, and/or governing bodies (e.g., SQF).
  • Lead and direct the work of employees, including authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, or disciplinary actions.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes in terms of quality and performance, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks.
  • Ensure reliability of plant and equipment operation while optimizing maintenance and operation costs, and satisfying safety and environmental regulations.
  • Identify and solve safety concerns encountered during the design and study of manufacturing processes.
  • Devise hands-on improvement processes to reduce scrap and defects, improve throughput, and document SOPs and Best Practices.
  • Assist in coordinating the installation of new equipment to maximize production efficiency and maintainability.
  • Work with production to modify equipment and work areas for maximum operational efficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of existing utilities and their current level of utilization.
  • Stay updated on the latest safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements affecting the facility to ensure compliance.
  • Support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing equipment and facility maintenance to maximize asset utilization.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with systems designed by the manager, focusing on execution and direct oversight.
  • Assist in keeping written documentation of environmental compliance current.
  • Prepare periodic reports to satisfy environmental and safety regulations and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Review, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and discharge employees as necessary to meet productivity requirements.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to product manufacturability.
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA and environmental regulatory and corporate standards; investigate and identify root causes of non-compliance.
  • Accountable for a safe working environment through strategies focused on accident reduction, energy, and waste minimization.
  • Oversee effective deployment of human resources throughout the plant and ensure correct administration of the collective bargaining agreement (if applicable).

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; undergraduate degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, SAP, and PowerPoint.
  • Proven leadership experience in a production environment.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work across multiple functions.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems, results-oriented.
  • Able to work under deadline pressures.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to change.

Working Conditions

  • Work Schedule: Weekdays, weekends, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and holidays may be required.
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced production plant with numerous moving parts; noise levels require hearing protection. Temperatures can vary from very hot to relatively cold. The environment is structured and supervised, with clear production targets and schedules.
  • Floor Presence Expectation: Minimum of 65%.
  • Travel Requirements: Rarely anticipated.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Visual/Sensory: Attention to detail requiring focus with one or two senses at a time.
    • Coordination and Dexterity: Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise equipment control.
    • Mental Stress: Pronounced pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy, or similar demands.

Pay

Pay Range: $81,000 - $110,000, plus eligibility for performance-based bonuses based on company objectives. The final wage will be determined by factors such as experience, education, qualifications, skills, geographic location, performance, and business needs.
