About the role
The Maintenance Supervisor at PaperWorks is responsible for overseeing the maintenance department, ensuring that all production machinery and equipment are in proper working condition. This includes developing and scheduling a preventive maintenance program, maintaining inventories of maintenance materials, preparing capital expenditure requests, and managing vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the safety and maintenance needs of production departments, physical plant, utilities, and grounds.
- Maintain an effective workforce by ensuring an adequate number of well-trained personnel.
- Develop and implement a work order system for a preventive maintenance program.
- Control and report maintenance failures, and implement action plans for continuous improvement.
- Plan and coordinate a continual work schedule to maintain all company property in a safe state.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintenance, electrical, and mechanical operations.
- Inspect jobs in process and at completion to ensure standards of workmanship and safety are maintained.
- Maintain inventories of maintenance materials, supplies, and repair parts.
- Prepare, submit, and track Capital Expenditure Requests and purchasing requests.
- Manage, coordinate, and research vendors and contractors.
- Interface with outside resources on installations, repairs, and innovations.
- Manage budget requirements.
- Recommend, plan, and implement equipment needs to improve production efficiency and/or achieve cost reduction.
- Update Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, write hot work permits, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Ensure safety rules and procedures are followed at all times.
- Execute safety activities according to plan.
- Perform necessary repairs as needed.
Requirements
- A high school diploma.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- A strong mechanical background, including electrical, electronic, and mechanical skills.
- Strong mathematical, computer, and reading skills.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Folding Carton experience is a plus, but not required.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in industrial plant maintenance.
- Technical experience with high voltage systems, motor control, process automation, instrumentation, and programmable logic controls (PLC).
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
