About the role

As the Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead the plant's maintenance team to maximize equipment reliability, improve operational efficiency, and support safe, uninterrupted production. You will drive preventive maintenance initiatives, lead continuous improvement efforts, and ensure maintenance activities align with production goals while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. This is a working supervisor role that combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on maintenance support.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
  • Manage and continuously improve the preventive maintenance program, focusing on maximizing equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, improve delivery performance, reduce downtime, and minimize reactive maintenance.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign maintenance work based on production schedules and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate annual shutdowns and major improvement projects to maximize equipment availability during planned downtime.
  • Establish and maintain maintenance standards, including standard work instructions, spare parts management, and accurate tracking of maintenance labor and activities.
  • Ensure the maintenance department maintains high standards of housekeeping, organization, and workplace safety.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports through regular feedback, performance evaluations, training, disciplinary actions, and annual performance and salary planning.
  • Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Safety, and other departments to achieve plant goals and drive operational excellence.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader by working alongside the maintenance and engineering team to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform repairs, and support maintenance activities when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, schedule, and document maintenance activities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to perform hands-on maintenance work when needed.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and ISO standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma principles.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States is required. This position is not eligible for current or future employment visa sponsorship.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to lead a hands-on maintenance team by actively participating in troubleshooting, repairs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • 5 or more years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Experience with SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM).
