About the role
OxyChem is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for its Chemical Manufacturing Facility in Wichita, Kansas. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring plant operations, employee safety, and environmental protection.
Responsibilities
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of employees, customers, and communities.
- Set priorities on maintenance activities to minimize downtime and ensure plant operations.
- Cook up with Production, Technical, and other Maintenance groups to ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Assign jobs and provide field supervision to maintenance technicians, adhering to the Maintenance Excellence Program.
- Lead and coach maintenance technicians to ensure all work is performed according to job plans.
- Manage backlog of work orders to maintain plant reliability.
- Track equipment repair progress to ensure plant reliability and capability meets production schedules.
- Participate in the design and implementation of equipment and process improvements, material of construction improvements, and cost control improvements.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with five plus years of practical maintenance or production experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A good working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and safeguards in maintenance and construction.
- Prior experience leading maintenance teams is preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Good working knowledge of SAP.
- Ability to respond to off-hour emergencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs., climb ladders and stairs.
- Walking, bending, stooping is required.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including a respirator.
- Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
