Maintenance Supervisor.
About the Role
Supervises the Range Operation Maintenance section with full responsibility over the operation involving approximately six subordinate workers. Works under the direction of the Supervisory Range Planner, who provides general instructions, standard procedures, overall priorities, and policies. The incumbent controls work operations to accomplish an adequate quantity and quality of work.
Coordinates with outside agencies for similar related work functions. Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources. Determines equipment, supplies, and maintenance required. Ensures material is ordered and delivered to work sites to avoid delays.
Responsibilities
- Plan work schedules for subordinate employees with supervisory input.
- Review work in progress and resolve any problems related to the work.
- Plan current and future budget requests with supervisory assistance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probationary period to assess supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
- Completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Subject to pre-employment drug screening and random testing thereafter, including testing based on reasonable suspicion and due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- Requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
Qualifications
Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories for Department of Army Civilian Employees or those on time-limited assignments are eligible to apply.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Credit is given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials, sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Failure to meet the Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Education cannot be substituted for experience for this position.
Additional Information
- Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment, or change to lower grade not to exceed 2 years by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, but return rights may be impacted. The position may be made permanent without further competition.
