About the role

Will supervise a shift or team of maintenance hourly technicians. Manages the maintenance budget for the facility including running and reviewing SAP reports and maintaining a spreadsheet of year-to-date expenditures. Eligible to participate in IP’s annual incentive plan with potential for additional financial awards based on performance.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes systems, including KIWI and SAP, to track maintenance key performance measures: mechanical/electrical downtime, maintenance reliability indices, maintenance breakdowns, etc.
  • Manages the work order system and tracks work orders through completion; compiles a report related to work order efficiency for the facility leadership team.
  • Conducts a weekly maintenance priority meeting with maintenance and production leadership to review open notifications and work order backlog, plan and prioritize projects for the next 7 days, and garner leadership support.
  • Plans maintenance projects including scheduling personnel (employees and contractors), maintaining project budget, accessing machine manuals, ensuring needed parts are in inventory, coordinating with production team, and updating work orders throughout the project.
  • Works with local leadership to schedule predictive/preventative maintenance activities to keep all equipment in good working order.
  • Leads Environmental Health & Safety initiatives: air permitting, storm water compliance, HAZMAT, waste water compliance, roof maintenance, infrared inspections, compressed air management, cooling tower/chiller, air handlers, fire & safety system inspections, contractor and employee training, electrical, and hot work.
  • Manages the facility’s store-room inventory/parts, including maintenance in SAP, ensuring proper inventory levels, store-room organization, and kitting for projects.
  • Assists in the development and management of capital projects and their implementation.
  • Manages a single, site-wide parts and tool inventory and coordinates routine service contractors.
  • Determines material needs for repairs, researches options, obtains pricing, creates requisitions in SAP, and receives material upon invoice receipt.
  • Coordinates purchasing, inventory, and work order administration activities of the Maintenance Department.
  • Sources and purchases material locally using a P-card, maintains purchase records, and reconciles the P-card following corporate requirements.
  • Inspects all maintenance materials and services upon delivery and ensures proper plant receiving procedures are followed.
  • Tracks equipment repair, building repair, or project costs using SAP and reports to management routinely and as requested.
  • Consults with respective managers to utilize site maintenance personnel before sourcing external contract services, potentially using all site maintenance resources across the facility.
  • Provides support in safety, maintenance, building security, housekeeping, grounds keeping, cost effectiveness, and promotes continuous improvement.
  • Analyzes high maintenance cost centers and implements solutions to reduce and improve costs in consultation with respective managers.
  • Works with vendors to consolidate purchases for cost savings.
  • Manages contracted work by planning tasks, developing a scope of work, obtaining contractor quotations, creating requisitions in SAP, and releasing service entries upon completion.
  • Plans routine maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance events.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly Maintenance Department library including drawings, blueprints, machine manuals, vendor catalogues, and other technical/non-technical information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college and/or related technical courses preferred.
  • Four years’ experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics preferred.
  • Mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated personnel supervisory skills.
  • SAP experience preferred.

Pay

$78,000 – $101,000 (PL10). Multiple factors, including individual experience, skills, and abilities, will determine placement within the pay range.
