About the Role
A Maintenance Supervisor establishes, implements, and maintains long-range plans for improvement of maintenance activities and provides technical assistance to supported manufacturing departments. This role ensures the effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment in supporting SPQRC (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost) initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Implement and actively support corporate safety policies, initiatives, and plant housekeeping standards.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and initiate immediate and long-term corrections.
- Support the plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost goals.
- Supervise construction and maintenance projects.
- Assist in the implementation of divisional and corporate policies.
- Maintain schedule and quality requirements.
- Implement safety and good housekeeping standards.
- Train, develop, and evaluate employees.
- Comply with terms of Local and National Labor agreements and support divisional and corporate policies.
- Initiate contact with internal and external teams to solve problems.
- Implement planned maintenance activities.
- Complete work assignments within budget, manpower, and timing constraints.
Requirements
- Willingness to work any assigned shift, including daily, weekend, and holiday overtime as required.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts.
- Experience in machine, assembly, and/or facility areas.
- Knowledge of and ability to ensure a safe industrial work environment.
- Knowledge of basic math, including trigonometry.
- Experience in supervision of a multi-trade workforce.
- Strong knowledge of tooling, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
- Completion of behavior-based competency assessments (e.g., DDI inventories) measuring ability to learn, adaptability, initiative, motivational fit, decision-making, results orientation, teamwork, empowerment, organization, and planning.
- High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate teams, and elicit output.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email communication tools (e.g., Lotus Notes).
- Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills.
- Ability to partner with senior management to analyze and solve issues.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
- Experience reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
- Experience solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including experience managing conflict and decision-making.
- Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns.
- Demonstrated high analytical ability to solve complex problems.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Word, typing, email).
- Willingness to work rotating shifts.
- Availability to regularly work weekends to meet production demands, including approximately two weekends per month.
- Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field preferred.
- Trained in skilled trades or equivalent technical training.
- 10+ years of experience required.
