Maintenance Supervisor

About The Role
The Essity Global Supply Chain/Manufacturing team in North America is seeking an experienced Maintenance and Reliability Leader (salaried maintenance supervisor) for our manufacturing facility in Harrodsburg, KY. This role is a key member of the Resource Support Team, focusing on improving production, product cost, and reliability through equipment and process enhancements. The ideal candidate will forecast maintenance needs, execute work within timelines and budgets, and ensure efficient maintenance of manufacturing and mobile equipment.
Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the Maintenance department in alignment with the company’s strategic plan.
- Lead the successful application of Total Productive Maintenance in your area of responsibility.
- Determine, build consensus for, and implement changes to equipment and processes to improve production, product cost, and reliability.
- Forecast maintenance needs and execute work to meet timelines and budgets.
- Ensure efficient and effective maintenance of manufacturing and mobile equipment.
- Assist in developing the annual manufacturing maintenance budget, monitor expenditures, and report variances.
- Design and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize equipment life and minimize operating costs.
- Monitor vibration monitoring programs, including determining machines for periodic/continuous monitoring and setting testing frequencies.
- Direct the use of alternative condition monitoring technologies (e.g., acoustic emission, thermography, motor current, oil analysis).
- Recommend field corrective actions such as balancing, alignment, and replacement of machine parts.
- Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis using Essity’s Breakdown Elimination enabler.
- Prepare reports on machine condition, recommend corrective actions, and report on repair effectiveness.
- Generate departmental SOPs and act as a training facilitator.
- Interface with predictive maintenance vendors.
- Prevent machine failures by increasing awareness and condition monitoring performance.
- Lead the implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety, Quality/Food Safety System (QRESH) policies and procedures to meet or exceed customer expectations, including certifications like ISO:14001 and SFQ.
- Demonstrate leadership in pollution prevention, legal compliance, and continual improvement of environmental performance.
- Promote the philosophy that Environmental, Health and Safety, and Quality/Food Safety (QRESH) stewardship is everyone’s responsibility.
- Perform other essential responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of maintenance leadership or equivalent technical experience.
- Maintenance planning experience preferred with thorough knowledge of recognized practices.
- Project management experience preferred.
- Skilled in or able to quickly learn SAP or another Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to lead teams through change and improvement.
- Leadership experience with a customer focus on industrial reliability.
- Proven knowledge and track record in world-class maintenance safety processes.
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical equipment.
