ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of supervising maintenance tasks.
- Serve as the primary supervisor for assigned personnel, overseeing their day-to-day maintenance functions.
- Participate in setting maintenance standards and developing procedures for performing daily maintenance tasks.
- Collaborate with nursing services to coordinate daily maintenance services in resident living and recreational areas.
- Ensure adherence to work schedules and submit necessary administrative requirements (e.g., completing forms, reports).
- Implement recommendations from Infection Control, Safety, and QA Committees, and maintain fire protection and prevention programs.
- Maintain safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous chemicals, ensuring proper labeling and storage.
- Ensure that all personnel follow safety precautions and wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Report hazardous conditions and equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned work areas.
- Assist in maintaining safety data sheets (SDSs) for hazardous chemicals.
- Participate in appropriate in-service training programs and follow established handwashing procedures.
- Wear protective clothing/devices when handling blood, body fluids, infectious waste, and hazardous chemicals.
- Report occupational exposures incidents to the Director.
- Dispose of refuse daily and in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
- Follow established policies regarding the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious wastes.
- Coordinate routine/terminal isolation procedures with nursing services.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs to the Executive Director.
- Maintain an adequate supply of maintenance supplies and monitor their efficient use.
- Ensure availability and accessibility of appropriate personal protective equipment for handling infectious materials.
- Label or tag equipment contaminated with blood or other infectious materials before sending for repair or decontamination.
Qualifications And Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
