Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

The Maintenance Supervisor is a critical position within the Manufacturing Team, responsible for supervising maintenance operations, mechanics, and technicians. This role involves planning for repairs of equipment and facilities, specifying and procuring materials, and leading projects related to equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervision and confirms time records for all maintenance associates to ensure accurate payroll.
• Develops and maintains Preventative Maintenance procedures on equipment to maximize uptime.
• Plans for procurement of required materials and equipment for the facility.
• Plans and executes special projects related to equipment, buildings, and grounds.
• Supports capital expenditure analysis on equipment, evaluating cost to maintain vs. cost to replace.
• Maintains responsibility for keeping all equipment running.
• Leads project planning for the department, both internally and externally with associates and contractors.
• Cultivates and promotes a strong safety culture, following all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Identifies and communicates workplace hazards and corrects or seeks assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
• Consults new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures.
• Assists in the development, communication, and deployment of departmental policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the execution of the Operations Annual Operating Plan (AOP) goals and objectives.
• Leads and drives continuous improvement initiatives to improve working conditions and departmental safety performance.
• Maintains high housekeeping standards and organization of assigned work areas.
• Facilitates training, coaching, and employee performance reviews, including cross-training within the assigned area.
• Communicates and enforces company policies and procedures to maintain effective employee relations.
• Maintains a working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; vocational and/or college training preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the repair of sheet metal equipment and supervision of workers.
• Experience with PC and related software is required.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving and communication skills.

• Ability to manage facilities department profit and loss (PnL) in line with budget.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate at all levels of the organization.

• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, leadership, and labor union representatives.
• Ability to recommend equipment and building repairs and upgrades.

Pay

The compensation range for this position is $76,257 - $110,573 annually.

Schedule

Mainly 2nd shift hours with some overlap to 1st shift for continuity. Occasional overnight travel is required.

Working Conditions

• Frequent exposure (34%-66%) to noise, odors, dust, drafts, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, and hazardous substances.
• Physical requirements include sitting/standing, free movement, repetitive manual movements.
• Must maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, trends, new technologies, and best practices.
