Job Opportunity

Maintenance Assistant – Part-time 24 hours.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the facility's physical plant and its various systems, including plumbing, electrical, structural, and equipment.
• Safely operate equipment, power, and hand tools to carry out maintenance tasks effectively.
• Advise appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs, enabling the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations.
• Plan efficient use of time to complete tasks promptly and effectively.
• Cooperate with all other staff members to minimize disruption to the facility's operations.
• Inspect the facility regularly and report any needed repairs promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers' license and safe driving record.
• The Maintenance Assistant demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.
