Responsibilities
- Communicate and coordinate maintenance repairs as needed.
- Ensure that all equipment operates to the highest possible standards.
- Communicate directly with QC to ensure effective participation by maintenance technicians in the implementation of QC policies and procedures.
- Aid in the hiring of maintenance personnel.
- Provide maintenance employees with proper training.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment with consideration of all those who may be working in the same area.
- Direct, maintain, and enforce the safety program for the maintenance department and review safety records to upload standards of maximum safety for all maintenance technicians.
- Coordinate activities with the plant operations departments.
- Aid with capital projects as needed.
- Enter maintenance data in CMMS program and ensure that the system is updated and accurate.
- Perform or assist in the repair of production systems, equipment, and tools.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of supplies within the maintenance shop.
- Coordinate continual updating of PM program to the equipment’s specific needs.
- Identify problems and implement proper counter measures.
- Coordinate fabrications and modifications of new and existing equipment.
- Carry a cell phone as required for on-call maintenance services.
- Aid with planning and implementing of plant improvements and expansions.
- Aid in performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance technician.
- Maintain and update operating/training manuals for the maintenance department.
- Supervise maintenance personnel.
- Aid in monitoring all work being performed by outside contractors.
- Complete employee payroll time sheets and other employee administrative requirements.
- Administer employee related communications and coaching.
- Comply with all company Quality, HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety Standards.
- Create and guide in creating SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Utilize root cause analysis tools.
- Create standard work with a time observation on how to perform any specific task.
- Aid in creating and utilizing percent loads and visuals to drive clarity and define staffing levels.
- Aid in recommending and supporting department budgets.
- Aid in creating priorities for Fabrication shop based on business needs.
- Utilize data from CMMS to drive decision making and implement countermeasures.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills—team player.
- Ability to develop and motivate a team of maintenance technicians.
- Hard worker who is a self-starter and proactive.
- Detail oriented.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to lift up to 69 lbs. several times a day.
- Exposure to food-related environments, including allergens, is required.
- Knowledge of mechanical procedures required for bearings and bearing housing is preferred.
- Good knowledge and understanding of compressed air systems and components is preferred.
- Good knowledge of high-pressure steam systems and the components associated with them is preferred.
- A general knowledge of robot automations and systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of advanced electrical components and their functions is preferred.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management system and instruct others on its operations.
- 2-4 years of successful production supervisory experience, preferably within a food/beverage environment is preferred.
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
- Operate a personal computer and peripherals.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft office.
- Be able to stand for the durations of 12-hour shifts with applicable breaks.
- Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
