Maintenance Supervisor - 2nd Shift - Demopolis
About the role
The Maintenance Supervisor at Foster Farms is responsible for overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of equipment and facilities. This role involves leading a team, managing maintenance tasks, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Supervise maintenance department and attain department goals and standards
- Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure safe working habits, quality of workmanship, and effective maintenance and repairs
- Prepare work schedules and work order assignments to support the total maintenance program and meet production needs
- Evaluate, prioritize, and schedule maintenance repair requests to ensure timely completion of repair actions
- Develop on-the-job training programs for new personnel, evaluate and document training records, and develop skill-level up-grading tests
- Routinely inspect equipment for needed repairs and maintenance and handle repair requests
- Execute processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles
- Work closely with department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members to ensure accuracy and quality of products
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in maintenance
- At least 5 years of maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a production environment
- Strong electrical and mechanical skills
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred
- Able to work weekends, holidays, varying shifts, and overtime as needed
- Able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-Verify
- Able to read and write English legibly
- Able to communicate with all levels including management
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to make decisions based on deviations from procedures
- Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for coworkers
- Able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain a company-issued Forklift license
- Able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Qualifications
- Able to perform physical job requirements, including standing for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor, enduring cold and hot environments, lifting up to 75 lbs, and working in a fast-paced environment
- Able to read and write English legibly
- Able to communicate with all levels including management
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Able to make decisions based on deviations from procedures
- Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for coworkers
- Able to pass company Forklift assessments to obtain a company-issued Forklift license
- Able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
