Job Summary

SUNY Maritime College seeks a Maintenance Supervisor 1 to lead the building maintenance program at our historic campus in Bronx, NY. The position involves supervising and providing technical direction to the building maintenance team, managing work requests, and coordinating with contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approve maintenance requests through the work order system.
• Visit work sites to confirm maintenance needs and coordinate with supervisors.
• Assign staff to projects and provide instructions.
• Inspect ongoing projects and conduct annual fire inspections.
• Coordinate with contractors for various services like elevators, exterminators, fire suppression, and fire alarm systems.
• Develop and implement training programs and evaluate employee performance.
• Prepare reports on costs and assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget.
• Manage the contractor/vendor procurement process to ensure cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, facilities management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in building maintenance or similar field.
• Experience supervising a team and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and work order systems.
