Maintenance Superintendent - East Sweetwater (Gypsum)

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for our Gypsum Plant in Sweetwater, TX. The Maintenance Superintendent will assist in leading the maintenance team. The ideal candidate will be a self-driven individual with a passion for excellence in safety, manufacturing, and customer focus. You will drive safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability while proactively identifying hazards and implementing appropriate mitigating strategies. This role provides critical input to the management team and influences others to positively impact the organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead a gypsum maintenance team to safely work in an SIF-free, continuous manufacturing environment consistent with our PBM® Philosophy while meeting facility goals and vision.
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance efforts that drive improvement in EHS, compliance, reliability, quality, production, and costs.
• Support production processes to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business.
• Facilitate team development and growth, employee skill development, problem-solving, and resolution.
• Drive safety excellence and compliance through promoting employee involvement, ownership, and accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement mitigating strategies based on risk.
• Monitor the quality of craft work and provide direction to crew members to maximize efficiency.
• Assist with troubleshooting production issues.
• Provide safety training to crew members.
• Perform data entry and complete/generate reports.

Requirements

• Must be willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing safety equipment.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment or a military environment.
• Two (2) years of prior maintenance scheduling/planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge and experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Qualifications

• Ability to read structural blueprints and hydraulic schematics.
• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing operations equipment for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues.
• Experience within the Gypsum industry.
• Strong communication skills.
• Previous supervisor experience with resolving employee issues, driving performance management, team management, and motivating employees.
