About the role

Supervises workers engaged in major painting projects, structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings, and maintenance and repair of building utility systems such as electrical wiring, heating, and ventilating. Oversees installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment and plant infrastructure. Leads employees who maintain, repair, and service plant equipment, buildings, and facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise major painting projects and structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings.
  • Maintain and repair building utility systems (electrical wiring, heating, ventilating).
  • Oversee installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain plant equipment using knowledge of electrical systems, pipe fitting, plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, and instrumentation.
  • Set up, repair, and tear down automatic equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.
  • Prepare work schedules and assign tasks to subordinates.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and practices.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in solving them.
  • Oversee construction, alteration, or modification of new and existing buildings and facilities.
  • Maintain production equipment to minimize downtime and meet organizational standards.
  • Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Administer training programs for operations, preventive maintenance, and repair.
  • May direct ground maintenance activities (mowing, trimming, snow removal, custodial services).

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience in poultry maintenance or food manufacturing.
  • Experience with processing equipment.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration and PLCs.
  • Proficiency in pipe fitting/plumbing, welding, shop machinery, sheet metal, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and instrumentation.
  • Ability to set up, repair, and tear down automatic equipment.
  • Capability to become Haz-Mat team qualified.
  • Excellent communication and computer skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
