Maintenance Specialist - HVAC

About the role
This position is based in Burlington, NC, and primarily supports HVAC maintenance and complex repairs for LabCorp facilities in Alamance and Guilford Counties. The role may require nights, weekends, and work during adverse weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Perform HVAC maintenance services and assist with complex repairs on HVAC equipment.
- Serve as a work leader, working independently or with outside contract services, and may direct others in specialized repairs or preventive maintenance (PM) procedures.
- Ensure adequate supplies and equipment through inventory and PM schedules.
- Perform specialized maintenance and repairs, including electrical installations, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration.
- Establish and ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules.
- Maintain heaters, water, gas, and drainage systems for various facilities.
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and plumbing fixtures.
- Research, troubleshoot, and resolve problems related to repairs and modifications of equipment and facilities.
- Maintain appropriate files and records as required by LabCorp, department, and regulatory agencies.
- Communicate effectively within assigned work groups to ensure current information is shared.
- Perform other tasks as directed by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in commercial maintenance or HVAC.
- Valid NC driver’s license and compliance with LabCorp Fleet Driving Policy.
- Ability to use scuttle ladders.
- Understanding of general maintenance areas (electrical, plumbing, and carpentry).
- Fleet company vehicle provided for servicing LabCorp buildings.
Preferred Qualifications
- A.A.S. in Air Conditioning/Heating and Refrigeration or certification in the field.
- 2+ years of experience with industrial commercial chillers.
- 2+ years of experience with electronic control systems (Honeywell or Alerton).
Schedule
Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
