Maintenance Specialist HVAC

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in HVAC systems preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as an HVAC Technician, preferably in a school district setting.
  • Possession of relevant HVAC certifications (e.g. EPA 608, NATE) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of HVAC equipment, including furnaces, boilers, air handlers, chillers and rooftop units.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, refrigeration cycles, electrical circuits, and mechanical systems including BAS systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with teachers, staff, administrators and external contractors.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance and repairs of HVAC systems in accordance with manufacturer's specifications and industry standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC equipment malfunctions to identify root causes and implement effective solutions promptly.
  • Create and conduct regular preventive maintenance tasks to prolong the lifespan of HVAC equipment and minimize unexpected breakdowns.
  • Cookordination with other maintenance team members to coordinate repairs, replacements and upgrades of HVAC components as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust HVAC system settings to optimize energy efficiency and indoor air quality while adhering to established comfort standards.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls related to HVAC issues, and ensure timely resolution to minimize disruptions of daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory and service history for reference and reporting purposes.
  • Stay informed about advancements in HVAC technology, regulations and best practices through ongoing training and professional development initiatives.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints and technical data/manuals.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Keep all working areas and equipment clean and in good working condition.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
