Maintenance Shop Lead Tech

About the role

The Maintenance Lead Technician reports to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager. This role provides direction to a group of technicians to ensure all repairs and maintenance of equipment comply with the Company’s safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains expert knowledge and advanced proficiency in various vehicle components and systems, performing complex repair and maintenance functions both on-site and on the road.
• Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.
• Directs technicians to ensure all repair and maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner, minimizing lost productivity.
• Inspects repairs done by third-party vendors to ensure all work is completed according to safety procedures and regulations.
• Identifies the source of malfunctions using electronic tools and completes applicable training programs.
• Handles Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed and acts as a mentor to technicians.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
• At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience (optional).
• ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) (optional).
• A Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License (optional).
• Valid Driver’s License.

Skills

Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some of the following heavy truck or automotive systems:

• Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions.
