About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Seamer Mechanic ensures safe execution of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing and/or food processing plant. The ideal candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Responsibilities
- Perform standard mechanical repairs and troubleshooting on all types of food processing equipment.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Angelus Seamers and all types of Filling equipment.
- Perform seam teardowns for can inspections and make necessary seamer adjustments on all can sizes.
- Apply strong welding knowledge and skills.
- Demonstrate electrical knowledge principles.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Complete necessary departmental paperwork.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of previous maintenance experience.
- Bilingual (conversational) with the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Ability to work independently and multitask.
- Reading and understanding safety data sheets.
- Teamwork skills with effective communication.
- Ability to work in a changing environment and handle high levels of stress.
- Flexible for all shifts; ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Manufacturing and/or food and beverage industry experience.
- Ability to weld and use welding equipment safely (required).
- Ability to cut with a torch (required).
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations (required).
- Experience with a plasma cutter (required).
- Experience with power tools (required).
- Some pipefitting experience (required).
- Lubrication and visual inspection skills.
- Ability to read mechanical/electrical schematics.
- Conduct special tasks as required by supervisor.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. consistently throughout the day.
- Frequently required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
- General electrical, gas control, and basic mechanical experience.
- Must pass standard Forklift Driver written and driving exams.
