Maintenance Mechanic

Description

The Maintenance Mechanic position at Smurfit Westrock in Glendale, AZ performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance activities, inspects and repairs various types of equipment, and uses CMMS systems. Key responsibilities include:

• Performing preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Inspecting belts, gearboxes, chains, bearings, and other components.
• Testing analog devices, scaling, and calibrating regularly.
• Troubleshooting low voltage circuits, analog devices, VFDs, and motor control circuitry.
• Troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic circuits and devices to identify faults and failures.
• Maintaining and repairing equipment in non-production areas such as the warehouse, design lab, building, and grounds.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:

• Ability to work safely and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Experience with PLCs, processors, and ladder logic, particularly Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Omron.
• Familiarity with NFPA 70E standards and ability to apply them in the workplace.
• Boiler/steam knowledge and/or certification is advantageous.
• Flexibility to work second or third shifts, and willingness to work daily overtime and weekends.
• A high school diploma or equivalent, with a technical school degree preferred.
• Physical abilities to perform tasks in a manufacturing setting, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
