About the role
The Maintenance Repair Worker 3 (Grounds) position in Facilities Management at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) performs semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and maintain buildings, facilities, and equipment. The incumbent possesses a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Responsibilities
- Maintenance of campus grounds, including parking lot and sidewalk maintenance;
- Aid other trades regarding underground installation and general repairs;
- Operate light to medium equipment, such as backhoe, trencher, forklift, dump truck, compactor, core drill, power saw, street sweeper, and steam pressure washer;
- Repairs to existing or installation of concrete or other cast surfaces, including grading, compacting, forming, pouring, finishing, and setting pavers;
- Installation of both cold and hot asphalt using proper application techniques;
- Maintenance and repair of outdoor fixtures, including fences (block and chain link);
- Installation of various types of signage (concrete, directional, and roadway).
Requirements
- Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in the relevant building and/or mechanical trades;
- One year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above;
- A valid class C driver’s license at the time of appointment and all certifications and licenses must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.

- Forklift Certification;
- Dust Control;
- Boom Lift within 6 months of hire.
