Job Responsibilities
- Perform periodic inspections and evaluations on construction projects as the Owner's representative. Will report operational deficiencies and enforce industry standard safety policies helping to ensure a reduced risk of accidents
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control activities are performed at the jobsite by monitoring the level of quality for acceptability, and recommend performance improvements as necessary
- Ensure Federal, State and local regulations and codes concerning health, safety, and the environment are strictly adhered to in the construction of facilities’ projects. Conduct with authority having jurisdiction, “called inspections” with contractor, construction superintendents, project manager and others
- Provide quality assurance inspections to ensure construction work complies with contractor’s safety program, and provide feedback/critique
- Provide technical expertise and interpretations on OSHA standards
- Commit to continuously improving the quality and value of service provided to customers
- Must be able to work safely in a construction environment and be able to fully tour construction sites to monitor progress and adherence to the projects’ construction documents
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data. As well as completes assigned training
- Schedule testing activities as required and manage the testing process. Supervise and monitor all field tests
- Review of safe work permit programs and tracking (hot work permit, lift plan, etc.)
- Complete training and other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Construction Science, Architecture, or Engineering or equivalent combination of training and work experience in commercial construction
- Must have familiarity with Activity Hazard Analysis
- OSHA 10 hour required, 30-hour training a plus
- Certified Safety Professional or Associate Safety Professional would be an advantage
- Experience in implementing a variety of occupational health and safety programs
- At least seven years of experience managing/inspecting construction work
- Prioritize plumbing license, electrician’s license or HVAC technician’s license
- Must possess a valid Class “C” driver’s license
- Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with administrators, department heads, researchers, supervisors, staff, customers, representatives of governmental agencies, architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, etc.
Job Specifications
- Position will require walking long distances, standing or sitting for extended periods, lifting moderate weight, twisting, bending, reaching, and kneeling. Will also include climbing ladders to inspect roofs and other structures
- Working conditions will primarily be at construction sites and other areas where there could be exposure to heat, noise, dust and debris
